Dr. Cervantes Lee is Executive Director of the Global Innovation Institute (GII), a nonprofit AI-native research and education platform focused on finance, restaurant, consumer, retail, grocery, hospitality, and physical-commerce companies across the United States and East Asia.
His work combines public-market analysis with more than 20 years of principal investment, corporate strategy, operations, and development experience. He evaluates companies through earnings quality, unit economics, operating systems, capital allocation, technology adoption, management execution, competitive positioning, and valuation—not financial multiples alone.
His professional experience includes KE Holdings, CBRE Global Investors, AIG Investments, Panda Restaurant Group, Peking University Founder Group, and Redbridge Student Housing. He began his career in 1999 as an Internet analyst with Arthur Andersen’s Global Corporate Finance and later worked as a research associate covering banking and property at CLSA. His broader investment and operating experience has involved more than US$100 billion in value.
Through GII, he developed China Restaurant Empire™, CRE Quarterly, and the CRE Model Portfolio™, an AI-native research program covering 78 publicly listed restaurant companies across the United States and Greater China. He is also the lead author of Multi-Unit Restaurant Management and the forthcoming China Restaurant Empire™.
Trained at MIT, USC, and National Taiwan University, Dr. Lee brings a practitioner-scholar approach to research and education. He has taught or developed programs with UNLV, the University of South Florida, Cal Poly Pomona, Tsinghua University, China Europe International Business School, National Taiwan University, USC, and UCLA.
He welcomes selective opportunities to contribute to research-led panels, moderated discussions, executive roundtables, university programs, and leadership conversations where GII’s work can add educational or industry value.
